Industry Background

The submersible pump industry demands high reliability and leak-proof performance under continuous immersion conditions. Pump assemblies involve metal joints with tight-tolerances to prevent leakage and corrosion. Traditional sealing methods often fall short in micro-gap applications, making wicking-grade anaerobic adhesives the preferred choice for achieving reliable, gap-free sealing. However, these applications also require accurate and controlled adhesive dispensing to maintain consistency and avoid material wastage.

Customer Introduction

The customer is an Ahmedabad-based, globally recognized manufacturer of water pumps and motors. In their submersible pump assembly line, they use Loxeal 70-14 a wicking grade Anaerobic Adhesive for sealing micro gaps in the pump housing assembly, a critical area that demands precision application to ensure long-term leak-proof performance and durability under submerged operating conditions.

Understanding the Problem

The customer uses Loxeal 70-14, a wicking grade anaerobic adhesive known for its capillary action, making it suitable for sealing fine gaps between metal components.

However, its high flowability makes it difficult to control the flow in manual squeeze bottle application. Even slight pressure variations or force during squeezing the bottle cause the adhesive to flow rapidly and uncontrollably, leading to over-dispensing, dripping, and uneven application.

Between the motor base and housing component, the sealing zone involves micro-gaps and restricted access areas that demand accurate placement and controlled adhesive volume. Manual application using a 50 ml squeeze bottle with a large nozzle made it nearly impossible to achieve consistent flow and uniform deposit size.

This uncontrolled application resulted in

  • Adhesive overspill
  • Material wastage
  • Process inconsistency
  • Assembly cleanliness
  • Increasing application cost

ADoST Solution

To overcome the dispensing challenges, the customer collaborated with ADoST, where the team evaluated the application process and recommended using the ADoST Anaerobic Adaptor along with the ADoST dispensing nozzle.

The ADoST Anaerobic Adaptor is designed to fit directly onto standard adhesive bottles and allows easy connection of a fine dispensing nozzle. This setup enables controlled, drop-by-drop adhesive delivery, eliminating the uncontrolled flow seen during manual bottle squeezing.

By using the adaptor, operators can dispense a precise quantity of Loxeal 70-14 directly at the application point, allowing the adhesive to wick naturally into micro-gaps through capillary action without overflow or waste.
